I just got Empire today because it had a lovely big picture of Hellboy 2 on the cover (I'm a bit of a fan and I will fight to the death anyone who says it's rubbish) and there's a bit of an update about the trilogy of Tintin films that are in production.
It's all interesting stuff - one film is being done by Peter Jackson, one by Steven Spielberg, it's done in motion capture with Andy Serkis (possibly playing Captain Haddock - RAD), they're going to be films of the two parter stories.
All well and good, right? Pretty exciting?
Well:

THEY'RE BEING SCRIPTED BY STEVEN MOFFAT!!!!!
BLISTERING BARNACLES THESE FILMS ARE GOING TO BE THE ACES OF AWESOME!!!!!!!
I AM EVEN WILLING TO SUGGEST THAT THEY WILL KICK THE ASS OF ANY OTHER FILMS EVER!!!

I'm done
  • AWESOME

I was flicking through that self-same issue in Smiths earlier but missed that because I was concentrating on the Indy 4 stuff.

Also Hellboy is great. I say this with confidence despite never having read any of the actual comics. Loved the first film and the thought of Ron Perlman beating up a member of Bros in the second one is deeply pleasing.

Incidentally, is there anything in this rumour I've heard that del Toro is directing The Hobbit? Because that would rock so much I'd fall over.
    • I think it's just a rumour twinned with the fact that 'it's the sort of thing he usually does'.

      Would be radical though.
He IS doing an H.P. Lovecraft film though - WICKEDY
      • Didn't he already do Lovecraft with the second half of Hellboy 1?
        • He did but it was a sort of Lovcraft inspiration filtered through Hellboy comics.
He's started a project filming At The Mountains of Madness - a proper one!
